Enjoy a walk to the local historic fishing village of Stein, Trumpan Churchyard or, further afield, to Waternish Point.  Explore this beautiful part of Skye, its historic brochs, cliffs and croft land. Or just sit and watch the beautiful scenery, with stunning views of Loch Bay and Loch Dunvegan, and more distant views across The Minch, with its ever-changing weather patterns and light, to the Outer Hebridean islands   ~    all this from the comfortable lounge or patio of ‘The Smiddy’.

‘The Smiddy’ is a perfect place to enjoy our beautiful west coast sunsets and designated Dark Skies that Waternish is famous for, with occasional views of the Northern Lights possible. 

If you love birds and wild flowers, you will like our wildlife friendly garden, which includes several species of orchid.  Goldfinch, Greenfinch and Siskin are regular visitors to our bird table, Buzzards are frequently seen over ‘The Smiddy’ and you might even spot a local Sea Eagle or Golden Eagle passing by. 

John is your resident expert on local wildlife and if you are lucky you will get an introductory talk, perhaps even a guided tour! Carmen moved to Scotland from Germany ten years ago and has a very keen interest in Scottish history, literature and music.  We will try to answer all your questions and are happy to help ensure you enjoy a very pleasant and special holiday here in the bonnie Isle of Skye.
